Two milk processing plants have reopened under new ownership south-east of Adelaide, providing dozens of jobs.

About 130 jobs were lost in April when United Dairy Power (UDP) went into receivership and closed its factories in Murray Bridge and Jervois.

Adelaide-based Beston Global Food Company bought the business in June and the facilities are now up and running.

Chairman Roger Sexton said it would create much-needed jobs for the region.

“Much of the region’s economy relies on this factory being in production — the local farmers, the workers who live up there and so many contractors who supply services to the factory, not only at Murray Bridge but also Jervois,” he said.
